Real estate agents are among the most highly paid professions. Top recruitment firms estimate the average salary of a real estate agent in South Dakota to be $95,018 annually.1

This pay rate depends on several factors, including years of experience, location, market condition, sales performance, commission structure, and business-related expenses.

Restoring Your Real Estate License and Inter-State Equivalency in South Dakota

Licenses for real estate agents in South Dakota expire after 2 years. This means that you must seek renewal every two years.

Renewal forms are only available for licensees whose licenses have expired. They are available online from 1st October to 30th June the following year.2

Contact the Commission if you are unsure whether your license needs renewal.

If you have an active real estate license in another state, you can take advantage of the reciprocal licensing agreements. This allows you to get your license without going through the application and examination process.

However, this is only for persons from states with a full reciprocity agreement with South Dakota. For those with a partial agreement, they must meet the requirements that their state sets for South Dakota residents.
